Can the AquaSTAR brush be used with glycerophthalic lacquers?
The AquaSTAR brush is specifically designed for water-based lacquers. For solvent-based lacquers (glycerophthalic), opt for a brush with natural bristles or a suitable blended model. The synthetic bristles of the AquaSTAR will give poorer results with these products.
What size should I choose for painting window frames?
For standard window frames, the 4/68mm and 6/74mm formats are the most suitable. They allow you to work with precision in the frame profiles and muntins without spilling onto the glass. Reserve the larger diameters (10 and 12) for doors and larger surfaces.
How do you store the brush between coats?
Between coats on the same day, simply wrap the brush in cling film or a hermetically sealed plastic bag to prevent the bristles from drying. For a break of several days, thoroughly clean the brush with warm soapy water, rinse and hang it bristles-down.
Do the bristles shed hair during application?
The first few uses may release some residual bristles. To minimise this, gently comb the bristles with your fingers before first use and rinse the brush with clean water. The reinforced binding of the AquaSTAR greatly limits bristle loss thereafter.
