Paintable sealants

Paintable sealants are acrylic sealants in cartridges, based on acrylate dispersion, designed to fill and finish joints before painting. Use them to neatly join a skirting board to the wall, an architrave or window frame to the plaster, or coving to the ceiling, or to fill a crack in plaster, concrete or wood. Once dry, they can be painted over with your topcoat: the joint visually disappears and the surface looks seamless. Painters, decorators and homeowners renovating their interiors use them at the preparation stage, just before the finishing coats. Start by choosing according to where you'll use it. For interior joints and decorative work, a deco or standard version is all you need. Some can be painted wet-on-wet, saving valuable time on site. For façade joints, sills and exterior joinery exposed to the Belgian rain, go for an exterior formula. Pro versions offer a smoother texture, more comfortable for long runs. Before painting, check the technical data sheet for the overcoating time and maximum joint width. Smooth the bead with a spatula or a damp finger for a clean finish. For permanently wet areas such as showers and around baths, choose a sanitary sealant rather than a paintable acrylic.
