SPS Easytop Extra Mat is an extra-matt wall paint based on a synthetic resin dispersion, designed for interior walls and ceilings. It applies easily and without leaving marks. It is ideal for projects where you want a uniform result, with no lap marks, even in raking light. It is sold for tinting, in 4 L and 10 L sizes.

Application tips

Prepare the substrate carefully: it must be clean, dry, dust-free and sound. Fill any defects and sand down filler patches. An extra-matt finish does not hide irregularities; in fact, it makes them even more visible in raking light. Remove dust after sanding and before painting.

Take advantage of the long open time to work on complete wall sections, keeping a wet edge. This method limits lap marks. Apply the paint with a roller, crossing the passes, then smooth with a final pass in the same direction. Use a brush for corners and edges.

Pro tips

For a ceiling or a large wall, work out the total amount of paint needed before you start. If you have to open several tins of the same colour, mix them together in a single bucket ("boxing"). A tinted colour can show slight differences from one tin to another, and extra-matt reveals them in raking light.

The classic pitfall is touching up too late, once the paint has dried, or with a roller loaded differently. Even though the product is very easy to touch up, use the same tool and the same amount of paint for your touch-ups. Check the result under the room's final lighting, not just in daylight.
