Technical sheetDownload PDFEPM Lissage Fin Poussière maîtrisée is a ready-to-use interior smoothing compound that stands out for its reduced sanding, generating significantly less dust than a traditional compound. Ideal for levelling and smoothing wall and ceiling surfaces before decorative work, it delivers perfectly smooth substrates whilst improving worksite comfort thanks to its innovative formulation that limits airborne particles.
Before application, ensure the substrate is clean, dry, sound and dust-free. Highly absorbent substrates must be pre-treated with a suitable primer to guarantee optimal adhesion and prevent the compound from drying too quickly.
Application is carried out with a spatula for small surfaces or a roller for large areas. For major projects, using a rendering machine saves considerable time. Apply a thin, even coat, then smooth immediately with a stainless steel scraper or trowel using crossed passes to eliminate marks.
Sanding is carried out once the compound is completely dry. Use fine abrasive (120 to 180 grit) and notice the significant dust reduction compared to a conventional compound. This characteristic facilitates worksite cleaning and improves working conditions, particularly valuable when renovating occupied spaces.

The main advantage of this compound lies in its ability to limit dust during sanding, but be careful not to neglect the initial smoothing phase. Many applicators tend to rely on sanding to correct defects, which cancels out the "controlled dust" benefit. Work on your stainless steel scraper technique in an almost horizontal position, with crossed passes and constant pressure: the more careful your smoothing, the less you'll need to sand.
For large surfaces, favour roller application followed by immediate smoothing with a trowel. Slightly dampen your trowel during the final passes to perfect the surface finish. On joint tapes, wait until the compound begins to set before final smoothing: this avoids tearing and achieves an invisible finish without excessive sanding. When renovating an occupied property, this compound becomes a real commercial asset thanks to the worksite cleanliness it maintains.
Yes, EPM Fine Finishing can be applied directly to plasterboard and plaster blocks. Simply ensure that the surface is clean, dry and dust-free. On highly absorbent substrates, apply a primer beforehand to guarantee optimal adhesion and prevent overly rapid drying.
Drying time varies depending on thickness applied, temperature and ambient humidity. Under normal conditions, complete drying typically takes several hours. Verify that the filler is completely dry to the touch and shows a uniform colour before sanding. Premature sanding may cause damage.
The main difference lies in the formulation, which generates significantly less dust during sanding. This characteristic improves working comfort, simplifies site cleaning and makes the product particularly suitable for renovations in occupied spaces. Application is similar to traditional plaster, but the working atmosphere is considerably healthier.
Yes, EPM Fine Finishing is compatible with mechanical application, making it perfectly suited for large-scale projects. This method delivers considerable time savings whilst maintaining finishing quality. Follow up with a trowel or finishing blade for a perfectly flat surface.
EPM Fine Finishing can be applied to a wide range of interior surfaces: plasterboard, plaster blocks, concrete, cement plaster and aircrete. The substrate must always be clean, dry, sound and free of loose material. For highly porous or uneven substrates, application of an appropriate primer is recommended.
