Fortium 101 Twin Tape escaliers

Painting a stairwell means protecting steps that are used as a walkway throughout the entire job. The Fortium 101 Twin Tape Escaliers from Nerpel is a protective paper designed for this purpose. Its two built-in adhesive strips hold it in place without any additional fixing, which speeds up installation and limits preparation.

Technical characteristics

  • Brand: Nerpel, Fortium 101 Twin Tape range
  • Use: stair protection, a product designed specifically for this application
  • Material: moisture-resistant protective paper
  • Fixing: two built-in technical adhesive strips (Twin Tape), the paper stays in place on its own
  • Protection: resists splashes during the work
  • Packaging: roll 0.70 x 20 m

Application tips

Before installation, dust the steps and make sure the surface is clean and dry. A dusty or damp surface reduces the grip of the adhesive strips. Unroll the paper step by step, following the profile of the staircase, then press firmly on the strips to make them adhere properly.

As the double tape is built in, there is no need to add masking tape along the entire length. Simply check the corners and changes of direction, where the paper may lift. If necessary, cut it to size rather than folding it forcibly.

Once the work is finished, remove the paper before putting the staircase back into normal use. In areas with frequent foot traffic, regularly check that the protection stays firmly in place, especially if several trades are working on site.

Pro tips

On a staircase, the weak points are the stair nosing and the joint between two strips. This is where the paper lifts when people walk past with tools or buckets. Take the time to press firmly on both adhesive strips in these spots, and never leave a loose edge across the walkway.

On a fragile or recently treated surface (varnish, oil, soft finish), carry out a discreet adhesion test on a small area before unrolling the whole roll. It is a simple habit that avoids discovering a problem once the protection has been laid over the entire staircase.

FAQ
