Hybrid Wood Protector
Exterior wood – façades, decking, shutters, gates or garden furniture – is constantly exposed to sun, rain and frost. Hybrid Wood Protector by Rubio Monocoat combines colouring and protection in a single coat, with curing powered by its built-in accelerator, for a lasting result and easier maintenance.
Technical features
- A true single-coat system: colouring and protection in one application
- Oil + accelerator combination for fast curing and optimal protection
- Suitable for the vast majority of exterior wood: façades, decking, shutters, gates, garden furniture, jetties, windows and wooden doors
- Protects wood against discolouration and weathering
- A breathable product: does not prevent the release of tannins (oak, chestnut) or salts from the wood on contact with water
- Made from eco-friendly ingredients, VOC-free
- Easy application and maintenance
- Available in 1L and 2.5L packs
Application tips
Even though the oil is formulated from eco-friendly ingredients, some people may be sensitive to it: wearing gloves is recommended throughout application. Work on clean, dry wood before starting the treatment.
Work in sections of 5 to 10 m² to keep control over spreading. Apply a small amount of Hybrid Wood Protector with the standard 220 brush, then spread the oil along the grain of the wood, always using the same brush or a polisher fitted with a beige or red 16-inch Rubio Monocoat pad.
For maintenance, use only Rubio Monocoat cleaning and care products, and scrub the treated surface with a nylon scrubbing brush, always along the length of the wood grain.

Pro tips
The main pitfall with a single-coat oil is wanting to "add more" to be sure it holds up: that's exactly the opposite of what you should do. A thin coat, well spread along the grain, penetrates better and cures more evenly thanks to the accelerator, whereas an excess leaves a surface film that can peel over time.
Another point many overlook: respecting the maintenance product. Since Hybrid Wood Protector lets the wood breathe and release tannins and salts, using an incompatible cleaner or too abrasive a brush disrupts this balance and speeds up visible wear, especially on oak and chestnut.
FAQ
