PLAFOCRYL MAT
Specifically designed for ceilings, SPS Plafocryl Mat addresses a well-known challenge for painters: avoiding overlap marks on a large horizontal surface, often viewed under raking light. Its solvent-free formulation based on acrylic dispersion offers a very long open time, allowing enough time to blend passes without visible marking, even on demanding substrates such as spray-applied render surfaces (spack).
Technical features
- Extra matte finish
- Solvent-free wall paint, based on acrylic dispersion
- Very long open time for mark-free pass blending
- Excellent flow for easy application
- Excellent coverage
- Easily washable once dry
- Specially formulated for smooth ceilings, highly absorbent substrates and spack-rendered surfaces
- Intended for indoor use
Application tips
On a new or highly absorbent ceiling, a suitable primer coat is still recommended to even out absorption and optimise the final result of Plafocryl Mat. On spack-rendered surfaces, make sure the sprayed render is completely dry before application to avoid any adhesion issues.
Thanks to its excellent flow, this paint is easily applied with a medium or long pile roller, suited to the irregular or textured surfaces typical of spack-rendered ceilings. Work in complete sections, from the wall towards the window, taking advantage of the long open time to blend the joins between roller passes.
For finishing, regularly reloading the roller and applying even pressure helps maintain a uniform coat across the whole surface, ensuring the excellent coverage promised by the product.

Pro tips
The classic pitfall with ceiling paints is rushing ahead on a spack substrate that is still slightly damp at the surface: the result looks fine right after drying, but patches of varying sheen later appear under raking light. Allow the spack to dry completely, even if the site schedule is tight.
Another point experienced tradespeople keep an eye on is the room's temperature and humidity during application. A longer open time is an advantage, but it remains sensitive to draughts and excessive heat, which speed up surface drying and shorten the window for blending passes.
FAQ
