Parafoam NBS

Parafoam NBS is a one-component sprayable polyurethane foam, designed for sealing, insulation and joint filling in demanding professional and residential projects. Its low post-expansion guarantees precise dosing without risk of substrate distortion, whilst its excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties make it a reliable partner for renovation and construction work in Belgium.

Technical characteristics

  • One-component polyurethane foam with moisture hardening
  • Low post-expansion for optimal filling control
  • Temperature resistance from -50°C to +90°C once cured
  • Joint density of 12 to 16 kg/m³ for high yield
  • Excellent adhesion to wood, concrete, brick, plaster, metal, polystyrene and polyurethane
  • Very good water and moisture resistance
  • Can be cut, sanded and painted after curing
  • Application with NBS gun for precise dosing

Application advice

Apply Parafoam NBS to clean, dry or lightly dampened substrates at a temperature between +5°C and +40°C. The product temperature during application must be between +5°C and +35°C to ensure optimal reaction. Shake the cartridge vigorously before use and use an NBS gun for precise flow control.

Fill joints in successive layers if depth exceeds 5 cm, allowing each layer to partially cure. The foam becomes dust-free after 6 to 10 minutes and can be cut after full curing. Once worked, it accepts filler and paint for a neat finish. For work in Belgium, account for ambient humidity which promotes curing.

Pro tips

For neat work on site, lightly dampen the substrates before application: Parafoam NBS hardens by reaction with moisture and this step accelerates curing whilst improving adhesion. When working in cold seasons, store the cans at room temperature the day before use to guarantee optimal yield. The low vapour diffusion coefficient (µ = 11) makes it an excellent choice for joints requiring certain moisture vapour resistance, particularly around window frames or in damp areas.

FAQ

At what temperature can I apply Parafoam NBS?

Parafoam NBS is applied between +5°C and +40°C. The product temperature itself must be between +5°C and +35°C during application. Once cured, the joint withstands temperatures from -50°C to +90°C.

What is the yield of a Parafoam NBS can?

A Parafoam NBS can delivers a foam yield of 50 to 55 litres, allowing multiple joints to be made depending on their size.

Is the foam suitable for thermal and acoustic insulation?

Yes, Parafoam NBS has good thermal and acoustic insulation properties, making it a suitable solution for sealing joints requiring additional insulation.

How does the foam cure?

Parafoam NBS is a single-component foam that cures by reaction with air moisture. It is recommended to lightly dampen the substrates before application to optimise the curing process.

Does the foam shrink after application?

No, Parafoam NBS shrinkage is less than 1 %, ensuring a stable and long-lasting joint without significant deformation after curing.
