Application tips

As always on facades, durability depends first and foremost on preparation. The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and stable. Remove any chalking or flaking areas, treat moss and dirt, then repair cracks and defects before painting. On a highly absorbent, porous or heavily deteriorated substrate, ask your Pygmalion advisor about the appropriate primer.

Apply the paint with a roller for large surfaces, and with a brush for corners, frames and touch-ups. Work in regular sections, without stopping in the middle of a wall. This limits lap marks, which are more visible on a matt finish.

For drying times, possible dilution and the number of coats, refer to the manufacturer's technical data sheet, available for download on the SPS product page. For exterior work, preferably choose a dry day without strong wind.

Pro tips

On a large facade, calculate the quantity needed before you start and make sure you have enough 10 L tins. If you are using several tins, mix them together in one large bucket ("boxing"). This avoids the slight differences from one tin to another, which show up on a matt finish under raking light.

The classic mistake is to stop in the middle of a wall or to paint in direct sunlight. Joins then become visible. Professionals divide the facade into natural sections (corners, downpipes, changes of plane), always keep a wet edge and finish each section in one go. On an old or uneven substrate, do a test on a small area to check adhesion and appearance before starting the job.
