Abranet® 100 x 152 x 152 mm triangle abrasif auto-agrippant maille micro-perforée

The Abranet® triangular sanding pad from Mirka represents a major advance in dust-free sanding. Thanks to its micro-perforated mesh and self-adhesive system, this triangular sanding pad of 100 x 152 x 152 mm adapts perfectly to delta sanders to reach corners and hard-to-reach areas. Designed for dry sanding, mechanical or manual, it effectively processes filler, primers, lacquers, composites and many other industrial materials, while maintaining a clean working environment.

Technical characteristics

  • Micro-perforated mesh backing for true dust-free sanding
  • Self-adhesive system for quick changes and stable positioning
  • Triangular format 100 x 152 x 152 mm suitable for delta sanders
  • Available in 5 grit sizes: 80, 120, 150, 180 and 240
  • Longer lifespan than traditional abrasives for better cost-effectiveness
  • Versatile use: metal, wood, glass, plastic and composites
  • Suitable for mechanical and manual dry sanding
  • Improved finish thanks to optimal dust extraction

Application advice

For best results, ensure your sander is fitted with an effective dust extraction system. The mesh structure of Abranet® can only reach its full potential with adequate dust extraction. Firmly position the triangle on the self-adhesive pad of your sander, ensuring correct alignment of the perforations.

Adapt the grit to your substrate: start with grit 80 or 120 for stripping and roughing on filler or primer, then progress to 150 or 180 for intermediate preparation. Finish with grit 240 to achieve a perfectly smooth surface before applying the topcoat. Apply only moderate pressure: the sanding mesh works effectively without excessive force.

Replace the triangle when you notice a decrease in sanding power. The superior durability of Abranet®, however, allows you to sand more surface area than with traditional sandpaper, which offsets the unit cost and reduces job interruptions.

Pro tips

On site, the Abranet® triangle quickly becomes indispensable for renovation work where dust extraction is a concern. Its superior performance compensates for the unit cost: one Abranet® triangle easily replaces three to four conventional abrasive papers, especially on filler or joint compound. Rotate sanding zones across the triangle to utilise the entire working surface before replacement. Supplied in boxes of 50 pieces: plan your needs based on the most frequently used grit on your sites, typically P150 for standard preparation.

FAQ

What is the difference between Abranet® and conventional perforated abrasive?

Abranet® uses a fully micro-perforated polyamide mesh weave, whereas traditional abrasive features only a few holes. This structure enables far more efficient dust extraction across the entire surface, reduces clogging and significantly extends abrasive life.

Can I use the Abranet® triangle without dust extraction?

Technically yes, but you would lose the main benefit of the product. The micro-perforated mesh is designed to work with a dust extraction system that evacuates dust through the perforations. Without extraction, sanding is still possible but the abrasive clogs quickly and the work environment remains dusty.

Which grit should I choose for sanding filler before painting?

For fresh filler, start with P120 grit to abrade and remove excess material, then move to P150 or P180 for finishing. On old or very hard filler, you may start with P80. P240 is suitable for very fine finishing before lacquers or varnishes.

Is the Abranet® triangle suitable for solid wood?

Absolutely. Abranet® works on hardwoods, softwoods, MDF and veneers. The aluminium oxide grit ensures even cutting without overheating the substrate. For wood, favour grits P120 to P180 depending on initial condition and desired finish.

How long will an unused Abranet® abrasive keep?

Stored dry, away from moisture and temperature fluctuations, Abranet® will keep for several years without loss of properties. The polyamide backing and bonding resist ageing well, unlike paper abrasives which can become fragile over time.
