Technical sheetDownload PDFFlügger Wood Tex Window is an opaque water-based paint specially formulated to protect exterior wood joinery. Offering a thick semi-gloss finish and maximum weather resistance, it stands as the professional solution for windows, doors and trims requiring exceptional durability and optimal colour stability.
The substrate must be clean, dry and free from any traces of grease, dust or old non-adherent coating. Light sanding is recommended to ensure optimal adhesion. Ensure the wood moisture is stabilised and that climatic conditions meet application parameters: minimum temperature of +5°C and relative humidity below 80%.
Application can be done by brush, roller or spray gun depending on the surface to be treated. The brush remains the preferred tool for complex joinery and details, ensuring optimal penetration into corners and mouldings. Dilution with water is possible if necessary, depending on application conditions and chosen technique.
Respect the 4-hour recoating interval between coats. Tool cleaning is done simply with water and soap immediately after use. Wear appropriate protective equipment and avoid inhaling spray mist or sanding dust.

The secret to long-term performance on exterior joinery lies in preparation: even though Wood Tex Window offers maximum protection, it will never compensate for insufficiently prepared wood. Experienced tradespeople particularly emphasise degreasing exotic and resinous woods before application, an often-overlooked step that compromises adhesion. Use a specific degreaser and allow to dry completely.
Another common pitfall: applying too thick a coat to save time. The thick finish of this paint may tempt you to skip a coat, but application in regular coats of proper thickness ensures even drying and prevents runs. On exposed horizontal parts like window sills, favour a short-bristle brush for a uniform film that will better resist standing water.
On new wood, it is recommended to apply a minimum of two coats of Wood Tex Window to ensure optimal protection. The coverage of 8 m²/litre per coat allows you to calculate your exact requirements. Observe a 4-hour interval between coats at 20°C.
Yes, provided the old coating is sound, well-adhered and properly prepared. Lightly sand to create mechanical grip, then clean and degrease the surface. Any non-adhering, flaking or blistered coating must be completely removed before application.
Wood Tex Window provides durable protection thanks to its highly weather-resistant formulation and maximum colour stability. Actual duration depends on exposure, orientation and surface preparation quality. Regular maintenance and annual inspection will significantly extend the coating's service life.
Yes, Wood Tex Window can be applied by spray gun in addition to brush and roller. This method is particularly suited to large flat surfaces. Water dilution may be necessary depending on your equipment. Ensure appropriate respiratory protection and avoid inhalation of spray mist.
The minimum application and drying temperature is +5°C, with a maximum relative humidity of 80%. These conditions must be maintained throughout the drying phase. Avoid applying in direct sunlight or on overheated substrates, which would accelerate drying and compromise the finish.
