Pygmalion tip : Apply Wood Tex 04 to new exterior timber in Belgium during stable weather, ideally in spring or early autumn. Belgium's humid climate requires that you check the timber's moisture content before application : overly damp wood will compromise adhesion and durability. For south- or west-facing cladding, which faces greater UV and rain exposure, opt for three coats rather than two to maximise long-term performance.
Site tip : work in complete panels on cladding to avoid visible joints. Actual coverage varies depending on wood porosity : expect around 6 m²/litre on highly absorbent timber and up to 12 m²/litre on pre-treated wood. Always keep some product aside for future touch-ups, noting the exact colour reference.
Wood Tex 04 is an opaque protection that completely masks the wood grain, unlike a traditional stain which leaves it visible. It offers a uniform finish and enhanced protection, ideal for irregular surfaces or when you want a contemporary look without visible wood texture.
The minimum recoating interval is 8 hours at 20°C and 60% relative humidity. In cooler or humid conditions, extend this time to ensure the first coat dries completely. The product will be fully cured after 28 days.
Yes, provided the old paint is sound, well-adhered and properly prepared. Lightly sand to create grip, clean thoroughly and repair damaged areas. If the old coating is peeling or blistering, it must be stripped completely.
The nominal coverage is 8 m²/litre, but this varies depending on substrate porosity : expect 6 m²/litre on highly absorbent bare wood and up to 12 m²/litre on pre-treated wood or finish coats. Always allow a margin for waste and touch-ups.
