Technical sheetDownload PDFThe Adfors Plastergrid S70 reinforcement mesh is a fibreglass reinforcement designed to strengthen thick plasters and finishing renders. With its 70 g/m² weight and high mesh rigidity, it ensures crease-free installation and direct load transmission, ideal for preventing cracks on new or renovation substrates.
Prepare the substrate by removing all traces of dust, grease or loose material. The surface must be dry and sound before installation. Apply a first coat of plaster approximately 2 to 3 mm thick to the area to be treated.
Unroll the Plastergrid S70 mesh, pressing it firmly into the fresh plaster using a float or trowel. Ensure a minimum overlap of 10 cm between strips. The mesh rigidity facilitates installation and prevents creases that could show through the finish.
Immediately apply a second coat of plaster to fully embed the mesh. The recommended total thickness is approximately 4 to 5 mm. Allow to dry according to the plaster manufacturer's recommendations before finishing. Use a stainless steel float or trowel suitable for thick plasters for optimal results.

The classic mistake is installing the mesh on plaster that's already smoothed or too dry: it won't adhere properly and may peel off. Always work in sections of 2 to 3 m² maximum, applying the base plaster just before unrolling the mesh. The rigidity of Plastergrid S70 is an advantage: unlike flexible meshes, it tensions itself and doesn't require constant holding during installation.
For internal and external corners, cut the mesh with scissors forming a V or fold it according to the angle, then carefully smooth down. On large surfaces, plan your overlaps: insufficient overlap creates a weak line where cracks will reappear. Finally, check that your plaster is compatible with fibreglass reinforcement, as some lightweight plasters don't provide sufficient adhesion.
Yes, this is precisely one of its primary applications. The 70 g/m² mesh provides maximum reinforcement to treat existing cracks and prevent their recurrence. However, ensure that the old substrate is sound, dust-free and that large cracks are filled beforehand.
No, Plastergrid S70 is designed for thick plasters and finish renders. For fine finishing plaster, choose a lighter mesh such as Plastergrid R52 or R70, specifically adapted for thin coats.
No, the fibreglass mesh is applied directly into fresh plaster, without prior dampening. Wetting is unnecessary and could even complicate handling by making the mesh slippery.
One roll covers 50 m² gross. Taking into account overlaps of 10 cm between strips, plan for a usable area of approximately 45 m² for proper installation.
Yes, it is fully compatible with plasterboard, particularly on joints and corners to reinforce sensitive areas. First apply a coat of plaster suitable for plasterboard before embedding the mesh.
