Adfors Super Plastergrid - 53 g/m2 - 50 m x 100 cm (50m2)

Adfors Super Plastergrid is a fibreglass renovation fabric designed to durably reinforce interior walls and ceilings with minor irregularities. Its ultra-fine woven structure integrates perfectly into finishing plasters, acting as a discreet reinforcement that consolidates the substrate and limits the appearance of microcracks, even after natural building movements. This professional reinforcement guarantees a smooth, uniform finish with no visible build-up, ideal for renovation projects where aesthetic quality is paramount.

Application advice

Before installation, the substrate must be clean, dry and dust-free. Remove any loose particles and fill major cracks with suitable filler. Super Plastergrid is applied directly into the finishing plaster: apply a first coat of plaster to the surface to be treated, embed the fabric in the fresh plaster by smoothing from the centre outwards to avoid air bubbles, then immediately cover with a second coat of plaster to completely embed the mesh.

Work in manageable sections to keep the plaster sufficiently fresh during embedding. Joins between strips should be edge-to-edge or with a slight overlap of 2 to 3 cm maximum. A wide spatula or stainless steel trowel facilitates uniform plaster application.

Once dry, lightly sand the surface before applying your finishing paint. The fineness of the fabric delivers a perfectly smooth surface without intensive sanding, provided the embedding has been done correctly.

Pro tips

The most common mistake with Super Plastergrid is trying to pull the fabric too tight during embedding. Unlike thicker traditional meshes, this ultra-fine product should simply be laid and smoothed into the plaster without excessive tension, otherwise you risk creating ripples or distortions that will show through after drying. Work with plaster at a creamy consistency, neither too liquid nor too thick: it must easily impregnate the mesh without running.

For large surfaces such as ceilings, pre-cut your strips to the desired length, adding 5 cm at each end. Always work in pairs: whilst one person unrolls and positions the fabric, the other embeds it immediately. This approach prevents the plaster from starting to set before the fabric is properly positioned. On corners and joins, use clean cuts with a knife rather than tearing the fabric, this way you'll achieve invisible joints.

FAQ

Can Super Plastergrid be painted directly after drying?

Yes, once the finishing plaster is completely dry and lightly sanded, you can apply your paint directly. The fabric embedded in the plaster forms a homogeneous surface that requires no special treatment. However, consider using a primer if you wish for optimal finish, especially on large surfaces.

What is the difference compared to a standard joint tape?

Super Plastergrid covers a much wider surface (100 cm width) and treats an entire wall or ceiling with multiple microcracks. Joint tapes are designed for localised cracks or plasterboard joints. Plastergrid acts as overall reinforcement that strengthens the entire surface, whereas tape addresses a specific point.

How many m² can I cover with one roll?

A Super Plastergrid roll measures 50 m in length by 1 m in width, equalling 50 m² of surface area. This area represents the reinforced zone, but allow for approximately 10% waste for trimming and overlaps between panels, particularly in corners and around openings.

Can Super Plastergrid be used on all substrate types?

This reinforcement fabric is designed for interior walls and ceilings: plaster, plasterboard, concrete, cement, old finishes. It is not suitable for external surfaces, permanently damp areas or surfaces subject to significant structural movement. The substrate must be stable and properly prepared before application.

What type of plaster should I use with Super Plastergrid?

You can use all standard finishing plasters: ready-mixed paste plaster, powder plaster or finishing plasters. The key is achieving a consistency suitable for embedding that is creamy enough to saturate the fabric without being too liquid. Consult the plaster manufacturer's recommendations for compatibility with reinforcement fabrics.
