The Abranet® Ø 125 mm sanding disc with micro-mesh revolutionises professional sanding by eliminating dust whilst significantly extending the lifespan of your consumables. Thanks to its unique mesh structure and self-adhesive system, it is perfectly suited for sanding filler, primers, lacquer, composites and many industrial materials, for both mechanical and hand sanding.
Select grit size according to sanding stage: grits 80 to 120 for initial sanding of fillers and coatings, grits 180 to 320 for intermediate surface preparation before painting, and grits 400 to 800 for finishing lacquers and primers. The mesh structure enables optimal dust extraction when the disc is used with a sander equipped with an extraction system.
Ensure the disc is properly positioned on the self-adhesive pad for uniform adhesion. Pressure applied should be moderate: the ceramic grain structure works effectively without excessive force. Replace the disc when you notice a noticeable drop in sanding power rather than pressing harder; this optimises product value.
For work on composites and hard industrial materials, prioritise ceramic grits which maintain their aggression longer. A cleaner working environment improves not only comfort but also finish quality by preventing dust particles from becoming embedded in fresh coats.

At Pygmalion, we recommend always adapting the grit size to the stage of your project: too fine a grit on a raw substrate unnecessarily prolongs sanding time, while too coarse a grit will leave visible marks under the finish. To fully benefit from Abranet®'s extended lifespan, ensure you use a sander with effective dust extraction: a clean disc cuts better and lasts longer. Don't hesitate to clean the disc during use with a soft brush if you notice any clogging, particularly on lacquers or varnishes. Store your discs flat in their original box to preserve the quality of the hook-and-loop attachment.
For sanding filler, use P120 or P180 grit for the initial pass, then finish with P240 or P320 depending on the desired finish type. Surfaces intended for matte paint tolerates P240, whilst a gloss lacquer will require P320 minimum to avoid visible scratches.
Yes, Abranet® can be used manually or with a sander without dust extraction, but its true dust-free sanding properties and optimal lifespan are achieved with an extraction system. Without extraction, the disc risks clogging more quickly, reducing its efficiency and longevity.
According to manufacturer Mirka's data, Abranet® offers a lifespan up to 5 times longer than traditional abrasives. This longevity is explained by its mesh structure which prevents clogging and its professional-grade aluminium oxide grit. The actual lifespan will, however, depend on the material being sanded and usage conditions.
The standard Abranet® Ø 125 mm is suitable for sanding certain woods, but is primarily designed for fillers, primers, lacquers and industrial materials. For very hard woods such as oak or beech, Mirka offers the Abranet® Ace with ceramic grit, specifically developed for these demanding applications.
