The Abranet® Ø 225 mm by Mirka is a self-adhesive sanding disc with micro-perforated mesh, designed for dust-free dry sanding. As the first multifunctional support product in the Net range, it is suitable for sanding putty, primers, lacquers, composites and a wide range of industrial materials. Its mesh structure enables optimal dust extraction, ensuring a cleaner working environment and improved substrate finish.
Always connect your sander to a dust extraction system to fully benefit from the dust-free properties of Abranet. The micro-perforated mesh structure requires continuous dust extraction to prevent clogging and maintain efficient sanding. Start with a coarse grit (80 or 120) for preliminary work and progress to finer grits (240 to 320) for finishing.
Apply moderate and consistent pressure when sanding: the mesh structure is designed to work with the machine's movement rather than excessive pressure. For putty and primers, favour grits of 150 to 240 to achieve a perfectly smooth surface before applying the final coat.
Check the disc regularly and replace it as soon as cutting capacity decreases. Although its service life is longer than conventional abrasives, keeping the disc in good condition ensures consistent work quality and protection of your substrate.

At Pygmalion, we always recommend verifying that your sander is properly equipped with a functional dust extraction system before using these Abranet® discs. The investment in these premium abrasives pays for itself quickly: their extended lifespan and virtually dust-free operation reduce cleaning time between coats significantly and greatly improve working conditions on site.
Belgian tip for renovation projects: always keep an assortment of grit sizes in your van. A P120 disc followed by P240 will allow you to treat most wood and plaster substrates with flawless results, ready to receive your Flügger paint without additional primer on surfaces in good condition.
Abranet® stands out with its micro-perforated polyamide mesh structure, whereas traditional abrasives use paper or cloth backing. This design enables dust extraction across the entire disc surface rather than through a few holes, preventing clogging and extending the lifespan by approximately 5 times. Sanding remains effective from the start to the end of the disc.
Technically yes, but you would lose the main advantage of this product. Without extraction, the mesh structure will clog quickly and you will get neither the extended lifespan nor the dust-free sanding that justify the investment. A sander with integrated extraction or an external dust extractor is essential to fully exploit Abranet® performance.
For a standard primer, use grit P180 for the first pass if the primer shows imperfections, then finish with P240. If the primer is already smooth, a single pass with P240 will suffice. For lacquers and tight finishes, P320 will deliver optimal results without sanding marks.
Absolutely. The mesh structure is particularly effective on polyester fillers that tend to clog traditional abrasives quickly. Start with grit P80 or P120 for rough shaping of the filler, then progressively refine up to P180 or P240 depending on the desired finish.
Packaging may vary depending on supplier and grit sizes. Available information mentions boxes of 10 or 20 discs. For the exact packaging of each product reference available at Pygmalion, please consult the product sheet or contact our advisers.
