Herbol Protector is a synthetic satin-finish paint in multiple coats based on special alkyd resins, designed to protect and decorate all types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This three-in-one system functions simultaneously as an anti-rust layer, intermediate coat and finish coat, offering reliable corrosion protection thanks to special zinc phosphate pigmentation and optimal adhesion to the substrate.

Application advice
Ambient temperature and substrate temperature must be at least 5°C during and after application. Absolutely avoid painting on surfaces exposed to the sun during warm periods, in rainy weather, strong wind, or in the presence of dew and fog.
For optimal results, use paints from the same production batch on adjacent surfaces. Verify colour accuracy of each tin before application. Primed surfaces must be sanded with non-woven abrasive material.
Note: like all alkyd paints, Herbol Protector applied indoors in white and pastel shades may yellow under the influence of heat and lack of direct natural light.

For professional painters : this single-pot system greatly simplifies site logistics by eliminating the need for separate primer coats. Pay particular attention to respecting the specified dry film thickness, especially on zinc where protection depends directly on this thickness. Applying three coats guarantees maximum durability in outdoor conditions. Anticipate natural yellowing of light shades indoors : inform your clients and prioritise this product for outdoor applications or in naturally well-lit spaces.

How many coats should be applied?
It is recommended to apply 3 coats for optimal protection. As HERBOL PROTECTOR is a single-pot system, the same product serves as primer, intermediate and finish coat.
Can this product be used on all metals?
HERBOL PROTECTOR is designed for ferrous metals and zinc. It provides optimal adhesion thanks to excellent substrate wetting. Required dry film thicknesses differ : minimum 100-120 µm on zinc, minimum 120 µm on ferrous metals.
Does the product yellow over time?
Like all alkyd paints, white and pastel shades may yellow when applied indoors under the influence of heat and in the absence of direct natural light. This phenomenon is natural and does not affect outdoor applications or well-lit spaces.
Does the product need to be diluted?
HERBOL PROTECTOR is normally applied undiluted using brush or roller. If dilution is necessary, use KUNSTHARZ-VERDÜNNUNG V40 or white spirit.
What colours are available?
The product is custom-tinted via the Herbol-Color-Service system, offering a wide range of personalised colours. Light-fast pigments guarantee excellent colour fastness over time.
