  • VOC content: 335 grams per litre

Application advice

Prepare your surfaces carefully before application: they must be clean, dry, sound and free of dust, dirt, loose material, soot, grease, oil, wax, mould, wallpaper or adhesive. Cover Stain is applied by brush, roller or spray gun depending on the surface to be treated. Dilute if necessary with an appropriate thinner according to the chosen application method.

Ensure good ventilation of rooms during application and drying, as this is a solvent-based product. Tools are easily cleaned with thinner immediately after use. Wait at least 2 hours before applying your topcoat, and up to 4 to 7 days for complete film hardening. Note that this primer is not intended for floors, decking, roofs or surfaces subject to immersion or prolonged contact with water.

Pro tips

On disaster recovery renovation sites, ZINSSER® COVER STAIN® is your reliable ally for treating stained surfaces without risk of bleed-through. Its rapid drying allows you to apply finishing coats the same day—a significant advantage for meeting your project deadlines. Ensure proper ventilation during application: this solvent-based primer releases flammable vapours and requires appropriate safety measures. For particularly porous or heavily stained surfaces, a second coat guarantees complete blockage and flawless finish.
